On October 3, 2024, 49-year-old Robert H. Campbell Jr. of Charleston, South Carolina, was fatally shot while driving his work van on Savannah Highway near the intersection of Bees Ferry Road. Responding officers found Campbell with multiple gunshot wounds; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
