In the small town of Cross, South Carolina, the life of 51-year-old Mark Eugene Windham, a White male, was tragically cut short on June 3, 2024. Known in his community of Eutawville as a skilled automotive mechanic with a passion for fishing, Windham was a man who would readily extend a helping hand to anyone in need. His life, however, came to a violent end at the Canal One Stop on Trojan Road, where he was found with multiple gunshot wounds.
The Berkeley County Coroner's Office was called to the scene and pronounced him dead.
The investigation into the shooting was swift. The Berkeley County Sheriff's Office quickly identified a person of interest, leading to the arrest of 46-year-old Allen Clyde Infinger of Holly Hill. Infinger was taken into custody without incident and has since been charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime in connection with Windham's death.
Mark Eugene Windham is survived by a loving family, including his parents, his son and daughters, his brothers and a sister, and a granddaughter. His sudden and violent death has left a void in the lives of his family and the community that knew him for his generosity and friendly nature. Funeral arrangements were handled by Avinger Funeral Home in Holly Hill, where those who knew and loved him could gather to remember a life taken too soon.
