In the late summer evening of September 4, 2024, the life of 18-year-old Jelani Amir Jackson, a Black male, was tragically cut short on a street in Lancaster, South Carolina. Jackson, a recent high school student described by his aunt as well-loved and kind, was walking on Clinton Avenue near Ruth Street when gunshots rang out just before 8 p.m. Responding officers discovered Jackson with a gunshot wound.
