In the evening hours of Tuesday, September 6, 2016, the life of 25-year-old Terrance Paige, a male resident of Atlanta, Georgia, was cut tragically short in a hail of gunfire. The incident unfolded at the Sunny Cascade apartment complex located in the 400 block of Fairburn Road in the southwestern part of the city. Paige, a young father, was reportedly visiting friends at the complex when the violent attack occurred.
The shooting was characterized by an extreme level of violence, with
police estimating that between 150 and 200 rounds were fired, creating what one officer described as one of the largest crime scenes they had ever encountered. Investigators believe that Paige was the intended target of the ambush. According to witnesses, the gunmen began shooting at one end of the complex and continued their barrage as Paige attempted to flee through a breezeway and into the parking lot. His body was later discovered in the parking lot.
In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, suspects were seen speeding away from the apartment complex in a vehicle. This car was later found abandoned and wrecked in the 3000 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. Evidence connected to the shooting was also recovered from nearby railroad tracks, which necessitated a temporary halt of train traffic in the area for processing.
Despite the intensity of the investigation and the recovery of the getaway vehicle, the individuals responsible for the death of Terrance Paige have not been brought to justice.
