On October 19, 2024, at approximately 2 a.m., Charleston County Sheriff's deputies responded to reports of a shooting in the 5300 block of Maybank Highway on Wadmalaw Island, South Carolina. Upon arrival, they discovered 43-year-old John E. "Gotti" Ladson suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to the Medical University of South Carolina, where he was pronounced dead shortly after 3 a.m.
