In the late hours of a Sunday in Jackson, Mississippi, a verbal dispute at a gas station on West Northside Drive escalated into a fatal act of violence that claimed the life of 45-year-old Christopher Paul Phillips. Surveillance footage from the gas station captured three men
in a white vehicle who were believed to be involved in the shooting. This vehicle was later found abandoned on Sunset Drive. The investigation swiftly led to the identification of three suspects. Shortly after the incident, the Jackson Police Department apprehended 22-year-old Jarrod Sutton, who was subsequently charged with capital murder. A few days later, a second suspect, 19-year-old Michael Sanders, was also taken into custody and faced the same charge of capital murder in connection with Phillips' death.
A third individual, 22-year-old Genesis Moore, was identified as the remaining suspect.
