In the small town of Hazlehurst, Mississippi, a family dispute over a seemingly trivial item escalated into a tragedy that claimed the life of 25-year-old Kawlaris Thrasher. On the evening of September 17, 2023, what began as a verbal altercation between brothers over a phone charger spiraled out of control, ending in fatal gunfire on Sardis Road. Kawlaris, a resident of Hazlehurst and a graduate of Hazlehurst High School, was shot multiple times and succumbed to his injuries.
