In the early evening of January 2, 2024, the life of 14-year-old Eugene Kelly was tragically cut short in Jackson, Mississippi. The young teenager was found in his front yard on Nimitz Street with a single gunshot wound. Emergency services were called to the scene around 8:00 p.m., and Kelly was transported to the Mississippi Medical Center, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries. His death marked the first homicide of the year in the city of Jackson.
