On January 2, 2024, 14-year-old Eugene Kelly was fatally shot in Jackson, Mississippi. The incident occurred around 8:00 p.m. in the 200 block of Nimitz Street, where Kelly was found lying in a yard with a single gunshot wound. He was transported to the University of Mississippi Medical Center by a private vehicle but succumbed to his injuries.
