In the early morning hours of May 15, 2024, the body of 29-year-old Melvin McNair Jr., a Black male, was discovered by a park ranger at Parham Bridges Park in Jackson, Mississippi. McNair had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was found in a pool of blood by a person who had arrived to play tennis. Investigators determined that McNair's maroon 2016 GMC Sierra pickup truck had been stolen.
