In the early morning hours of Saturday, January 13, 2024, the sound of a person screaming on North College Street in Grenada, Mississippi, prompted a 911 call. When officers from the Grenada Police Department arrived at the scene at 12:35 a.m., they discovered a male who had been shot. The victim was identified as 19-year-old Oterious Minor.
First responders with MedStat Emergency Medical Services transported Minor to the University of Mississippi Medical Center – Grenada for treatment. Despite their efforts, he succumbed to the gunshot wounds he sustained. The Grenada Police immediately launched an investigation into the shooting to identify a suspect.
Two days later, on Monday, officers with the Grenada Police Department arrested a 16-year-old male juvenile within the city limits in connection with Minor's death. The teenage suspect was subsequently charged with murder and is being held in the Grenada County Jail on a $250,000 bond. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting is ongoing.
