In a case that stretched across two states, 30-year-old Kelly Sistrunk of Memphis, Tennessee, tragically lost her life, leaving a community searching for answers. The young mother's story began to unfold on January 28, 2024, when she was last seen by her mother sitting in her vehicle in the driveway of their home. A short time later, she had vanished, though her car remained behind. This was uncharacteristic of Sistrunk, who was a devoted mother to her two-year-old son, and concern quickly grew among her family when she failed to make contact.
The search for Kelly Sistrunk came to a heartbreaking end on February 4, 2024. Her body was discovered in a wooded area off Interstate 22, about four miles east of Holly Springs, Mississippi, roughly 50 miles from her Memphis home. The discovery was made after her family, conducting their own search, found her cellphone pinging in that vicinity. Authorities were alerted, and a search effort involving cadaver dogs led them to her remains.
A preliminary investigation by the Marshall County Sheriff's Department revealed that Sistrunk had sustained at least one gunshot wound to the head.
