In the late hours of a Friday night in Grenada, Mississippi, a distressing call broke the quiet of March 15, 2024. Deputies from the Grenada County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to a residence on Grant Road around 11:15 p.m., following a report of a woman who had possibly been shot and was not breathing. Upon their arrival, they discovered a tragic scene.
Inside the home, 44-year-old Talicia Latham was found deceased, having suffered from multiple gunshot wounds. The responding officers immediately treated the case as a homicide investigation. As the inquiry into Talicia's death began, investigators quickly identified a suspect. Evidence gathered at the scene led them to issue a murder warrant for Stanley Trent Latham, the victim's 56-year-old husband.
The search for Stanley Latham was brief. He was taken into custody the following day, on March 16, 2024, with the assistance of the Grenada Police Department. Following his arrest, an autopsy was scheduled to be performed at the Mississippi Crime Lab to confirm the cause of death. Later that month, Stanley Trent Latham appeared in Grenada County Justice Court for what was scheduled to be his preliminary hearing. However, he chose to waive this hearing. He remains incarcerated in the Grenada County Jail as the legal process continues.
