On June 9, 2024, at approximately 2 a.m., Greenwood police officers responded to reports of gunfire near McLean Street. Upon arrival, they discovered 39-year-old Kennoris Cortez Stigler on Madison Avenue, suffering from gunshot wounds. Emergency medical services pronounced Stigler dead at 2:11 a.m., with Leflore County Coroner Debra Sanders officially declaring his death at 3:05 a.m.
