In the early hours of a summer morning in Indianola, Mississippi, the life of 19-year-old Cameron Lee Butts was tragically cut short. On July 21, 2024, Butts, a Black male from Greenville, was fatally shot in a mass shooting that erupted on Church Street. The incident, which took place around 1 a.m. near a nightclub, also claimed the lives of two other 19-year-olds, Areon Butler of Indianola and Marquette Baites of Greenville.
