In the late summer of 2024, the life of 45-year-old Crystal Dawn Sanderford was brought to a tragic and violent end in Vicksburg, Mississippi. On the afternoon of Wednesday, September 4th, deputies from the Warren County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to a residence on Warriors Trail following a report of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered a grim scene.
Inside the home, they found Crystal Dawn Sanderford and a man identified as 53-year-old Johnny Dill Jr.
Both were deceased. The initial investigation by the sheriff's office suggested a murder-suicide. It was determined that Sanderford had sustained multiple gunshot wounds, while Dill Jr. had a single, self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. A weapon was recovered at the scene, and there were no indications that anyone else was involved in the incident.
Authorities believed the tragic event stemmed from a domestic dispute. The investigation concluded that Dill Jr. was the suspected shooter in what was described as a domestic-related murder-suicide. As a result of this conclusion, no arrests were made in connection with the death of Crystal Dawn Sanderford. The case was considered closed with the death of the sole suspect.
