In the early hours of New Year's Day 2023, the life of 19-year-old Don David Sawyer, a Caucasian male, was tragically cut short in a burst of violence on Detroit's east side. Known to his friends as David, he had just arrived at a New Year's Eve party with friends near East Warren and East Outer Drive, ready to celebrate the promise of a new year. The festive atmosphere was shattered when a vehicle approached and unleashed a barrage of gunfire.
