In a heart-wrenching turn of events on a Good Friday afternoon in Muskegon, Michigan, the promising life of 6-month-old ADourr KyIonni-LaShay Malone was tragically cut short. The infant, a female, was fatally wounded on April 7, 2023, after being struck by a bullet from a semiautomatic rifle. The incident unfolded on East Isabella Street, where gunfire erupted into a busy neighborhood, forever altering the lives of those present.
Emergency services rushed the baby girl to a nearby hospital, but her injuries proved to be fatal.
The investigation into the senseless shooting led authorities to identify several suspects. Julio Deadrick Casiano Jr. was identified as the individual who opened fire on the crowded street. The motive behind the shooting was determined to be gang-related. Following the shooting, four men fled the scene in a pickup truck, which was believed to have been the intended target of the gunfire. A police chase ensued, lasting approximately 20 minutes before the vehicle was stopped and its occupants were apprehended.
In the aftermath of the tragic event, the wheels of justice began to turn. Julio Deadrick Casiano Jr. was charged with second-degree murder, lying to a peace officer during a violent crime investigation, and a gang-related charge. He ultimately pleaded guilty to the murder and gang charges. Casiano was sentenced to a maximum of 22 years in prison. Two of his brothers were also held accountable for their roles in the events of that day. Tollie Hatcher faced charges for firing at state police who were investigating the initial shooting, a weapons felony firearm charge, and a gang charge. After pleading guilty to all three, he was sentenced to a maximum of 14 years in prison. A third brother, Treshawn Hatcher, was charged with tampering with evidence.
