On May 14, 2023, Marcus Pierce, a 33-year-old man from Kalamazoo, Michigan, was fatally shot during a series of violent incidents that occurred on Mother's Day. The shooting took place near the intersection of Ada Street and North Westnedge Avenue in Kalamazoo.
