On a tragic Saturday morning, May 20, 2023, the life of Annie Salem Namou Somo, a 40-year-old woman, was cut short in an act of violence that unfolded at her workplace in Royal Oak Township, Michigan. Described by friends as a caring and hardworking mother, her primary focus in life was her beloved daughter. She was known for her vibrant personality and was a cherished member of her community.
The events of that morning took a horrifying turn when her ex-boyfriend, 44-year-old Gregory
Keyier-Deniro Davis, allegedly followed her to the car dealership where she worked. In a calculated and brutal attack, Davis reportedly used his vehicle to block hers, preventing any escape. As she attempted to flee on foot, he is accused of shooting her with a 12-gauge semi-automatic shotgun. The violence escalated as he allegedly fired a second shot at close range, ending her life in the presence of their 10-year-old child.
Following the shooting, Gregory Keyier-Deniro Davis surrendered to law enforcement. He was subsequently charged with a litany of offenses, including first-degree premeditated murder, assault with intent to murder, felon in possession of a firearm, felonious assault, and four counts of felony firearm second offense. If convicted of the most serious charge, he faces a mandatory sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole. The case has been highlighted by prosecutors as a devastating example of domestic violence. Davis was arraigned and is being held in the Oakland County Jail.
