On September 28, 2023, Tyrone Jerome Potts, a 35-year-old father of five from Kalamazoo, Michigan, was fatally shot outside a Circle K gas station located at the corner of Lovell Street and Oakland Drive. The incident occurred around 11 a.m., and another man was also shot multiple times but survived with injuries. The shooting prompted an immediate investigation by the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety, and the gas station permanently closed shortly after the tragic event.
