In a tragic turn of events, 35-year-old Solomon LeFlore, a male resident of Kalamazoo, Michigan, was found deceased in his home on Hidden Hills Drive on September 4, 2021. An investigation revealed that he had sustained multiple gunshot wounds, leading to his untimely death.
The primary suspect in the case was quickly identified as his roommate, 23-year-old Ezra Howe.
Following the discovery of LeFlore's body, investigators determined that Howe had fled the state and was likely heading to Oregon. In a collaborative effort with the Oregon State Police, detectives from Kalamazoo were able to locate and apprehend Howe on a rural highway on September 10, 2021.
After his arrest, Howe was held in the Grant County Jail in Oregon before being extradited back to Michigan on November 16, 2021. He was subsequently arraigned the following day on charges of open felony murder and felony firearm. During the legal proceedings, it was revealed that the shooting occurred during a fit of anger over a disagreement.
Ultimately, Ezra Howe pleaded guilty to second-degree murder. In a remorseful statement during his sentencing on November 7, 2022, Howe expressed deep regret for his actions. The court sentenced him to a minimum of 25 years and a maximum of 50 years in prison for the killing of his roommate.
