In the autumn of 2023, the life of 38-year-old Carrie Kartaveta Golidy, a Black/African American mother of three from Muskegon, Michigan, was tragically cut short. On the afternoon of October 30th, gunfire erupted on Howden Street in Muskegon Heights. When police arrived at the scene, they discovered Golidy with gunshot wounds. She was rushed to a local hospital for medical attention.
Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Carrie Golidy succumbed to her injuries on November 1, 2023.
Her unexpected death left her family, including her husband and three young sons, devastated. In the wake of this tragedy, her family organized a GoFundMe campaign to help with funeral expenses and provide support for her children, remembering her as a loving mother.
The investigation into Golidy's death led to the arrest of 32-year-old Jermaine Clifford. He was subsequently charged with open murder, assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder, felon in possession of a firearm, and felony firearm. Court records revealed that Clifford had prior convictions for assault with a dangerous weapon and armed robbery.
On December 1, 2023, Clifford was arraigned on the charges related to Golidy's death. He later entered into a plea agreement, pleading no contest to a charge of manslaughter as a habitual offender. On December 5, 2023, Jermaine Clifford was sentenced to a prison term of 43 months to 60 years for his role in the death of Carrie Golidy.
