In the summer of 2024, a burst of violence in Saginaw Township claimed the life of 24-year-old Dennis Mayes Jr. On the night of July 10th, Mayes was with two teenagers on Mackinaw Road when gunfire erupted. The Saginaw Township Police Department responded to the scene to find a chaotic situation with three individuals suffering from gunshot wounds. Mayes, having sustained critical injuries, was rushed to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. The two other victims, both teenagers, were also transported for medical treatment for their injuries.
The investigation into the triple shooting quickly pointed to a single suspect, 15-year-old Jawon Williams. Within a short period, Williams was taken into custody by law enforcement.
