Eugene "Gino" Smith, a 31-year-old father of five from Washington, D.C., was fatally shot on the night of February 23, 2023, outside the DMV All Skate Social skating rink in Temple Hills, Maryland. Smith, the head of security at the establishment, had stopped by the rink to pick up paychecks for his team when the incident occurred. As he stood outside the venue, a vehicle approached, and an assailant opened fire, striking Smith multiple times. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
