On May 7, 2023, a tragic incident occurred at an off-campus party near Frostburg State University in Maryland, resulting in the death of Alexander Ramon Redondo, a 20-year-old resident of Westernport. The shooting took place at a student rental property in Frostburg, where Redondo was fatally wounded along with three other individuals who sustained injuries.
