In the early morning hours of May 14, 2023, the life of 18-year-old Jamal Conrad Martin, a Black / African American male, was tragically cut short on a street in Baltimore, Maryland. Police officers responded to a report of a shooting at approximately 2:30 a.m. in the 2300 block of Homewood Avenue. Upon their arrival, they found the young man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Despite the immediate medical attention he received, his injuries proved to be fatal, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation into the death of Jamal Martin was swiftly undertaken by homicide detectives who began seeking information from the public to piece together the events that led to the fatal shooting. Their efforts led to a significant development in the case within a month. Investigators identified 21-year-old Montrez Cherry-Braxton of Baltimore as the individual responsible for the shooting death of Martin.
On June 13, 2023, detectives with the Baltimore Police Department arrested Montrez Cherry-Braxton. Following his arrest, he was transported to the Central Booking Intake Facility. He has since been charged with 1st-degree murder in connection with the death of Jamal Conrad Martin.
