On the evening of May 19, 2023, 19-year-old Dabrae Edwards was fatally shot in a double shooting in the 200 block of East Street in Baltimore, Maryland. Another 19-year-old male was also injured in the incident.
That night, around 8:40 p.m., police responded to reports of a shooting and found Edwards with multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to a local hospital where he died from his injuries on May 21, 2023.
The second victim was treated for a gunshot wound to his arm.
According to the investigation, the incident was captured on CCTV footage. The footage showed Edwards parking his car, and the other victim getting out to speak with a group of men. A male, later identified as Deonte Price, was then seen with the second victim. As Edwards opened the passenger door of his vehicle, Price allegedly bent down and fired a handgun at him. A second, unidentified suspect also fired shots at the vehicle. Edwards attempted to drive away but crashed into a nearby rowhome.
A 17-year-old, Deonte Price, was arrested on May 25, 2023, in connection with the shooting. He was charged as an adult with first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, and various handgun violations. In May 2025, a jury found Price guilty of first-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder, among other related charges. In July 2025, Deonte Price, then 18, was sentenced to life in prison plus 40 years. The first 10 years of his sentence will be served without the possibility of parole. The second shooter in the incident has not been identified or arrested.
