In the evening hours of May 24, 2023, the life of Tyon S. Purvey Jr., a 29-year-old Black male, was tragically cut short in Baltimore, Maryland. The incident unfolded at approximately 9:13 p.m., when Baltimore Police Department officers were dispatched to the 500 block of West Franklin Street to investigate a reported shooting.
Upon their arrival and canvassing of the area, officers discovered Mr. Purvey in the 400 block of North Paca Street.
He was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds that had struck his back, chest, and face. Emergency medical personnel were called to the scene and quickly transported him to a nearby hospital for treatment. Despite their efforts, Tyon S. Purvey Jr. was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
Homicide detectives from the Baltimore Police Department have taken control of the investigation into Mr. Purvey's death. The authorities have urged anyone with information regarding the shooting to come forward and have provided contact information for the homicide unit and the Metro Crime Stoppers anonymous tip line. To date, no public announcements have been made regarding any suspects or arrests in connection with this case.
