In the early afternoon of a summer day in Baltimore, Maryland, a burst of gunfire shattered the peace in the 200 block of North Warwick Avenue. When the violence subsided, a 42-year-old male, Julius Tyrone Johnson, Jr., was left with life-threatening gunshot wounds.
Responding to a ShotSpotter alert on June 16, 2023, at approximately 12:53 p.m., police officers discovered Johnson in the 2500 block of West Lexington Street.
Emergency medical services were dispatched to the scene and quickly transported him to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center. Despite the efforts of medical professionals, Julius Tyrone Johnson, Jr. succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.
Homicide detectives from the Baltimore Police Department have assumed control of the ongoing investigation into Johnson's death. As of now, authorities have not publicly identified any suspects or made any arrests in connection with the shooting. The investigation remains active, and police are urging anyone with information to come forward to assist in bringing those responsible to justice.
