On a Saturday afternoon, at approximately 3:00 p.m. on December 2, 2023, the life of 69-year-old Anton Kancir, a male resident of Baltimore, Maryland, was tragically cut short. While waiting at a bus stop in the 4000 block of Edmondson Avenue in Southwest Baltimore, he was fatally shot. Southwest District patrol officers, who were in the vicinity of Edmondson Avenue and Wildwood Parkway, were flagged down and directed to the scene. There, they discovered Mr. Kancir suffering from a gunshot wound to the face. He was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased a short time later.
The Baltimore Police Department's homicide detectives immediately began an investigation into the shooting. Surveillance video from near the bus stop played a crucial role in identifying a person of interest. The footage captured a male in a coat and jeans moments before the murder and then running from the area after the shooting. This evidence led investigators to identify 28-year-old Treymon Hughes-Boulware of Baltimore as the suspect in the killing.
Just days later, on December 8, 2023, authorities arrested Treymon Hughes-Boulware. Following his arrest, he was taken to the Central Booking Intake Facility. Hughes-Boulware has since been charged with first-degree murder for his alleged role in the death of Anton Kancir. The investigation determined that Hughes-Boulware shot Kancir at the bus stop.
