Daye's defense attorney presented a different narrative, arguing that his client's actions were justified and reasonable under the threat he faced. The defense claimed that the men who entered the shop intended to kill, with one of them allegedly putting a gun to the head of Daye's co-worker. The attorney emphasized that Daye ended the threat by shooting them and was cooperative with the police after the incident, including calling 911 while taking his coworker to the hospital and surrendering his weapon.
