Marvin Moore, a 42-year-old Black man, was shot in the early minutes of June 18, 2024, in West Baltimore. Just after midnight, patrol officers were called to the 1100 block of Stoddard Court for reports of gunfire, and they found Moore gravely wounded. Paramedics rushed him to a hospital, but he did not survive.
Detectives later pieced together a timeline that placed the shooting at McCulloh Homes, where city surveillance played a key role in the investigation.
According to court records described in news coverage, Citiwatch cameras captured activity around the time Moore was killed, including footage of a fleeing figure. Investigators alleged the shooter discarded a gray shirt while running through nearby City View Apartments, then appeared on other cameras heading toward Pennsylvania Avenue in different clothing; detectives searched for the discarded item, found it in an open dumpster, and collected it as evidence.
Ten days later, on the morning of June 28, 2024, Baltimore’s Warrant Apprehension Task Force arrested Fred Woods, who police said was believed to be the shooter. Woods was taken to Central Booking and charged with first-degree murder, along with additional charges; subsequent reporting described counts that included first- and second-degree murder, assault charges, and handgun-related offenses.
As the case moved forward, court coverage later reported that Fred Woods Jr. was set for trial in Baltimore City Circuit Court, with a five-day trial scheduled to begin January 12, 2026, before a circuit court judge, and that the prosecution included a first-degree murder charge and firearm violations tied to Moore’s killing.
