On a summer afternoon in Baltimore, the life of a young man was tragically cut short. Derrick Hawks, a 19-year-old Black male, was shot and killed on July 9, 2024. The incident occurred around 1:20 p.m. in the 900 block of North Dukeland Street.

Responding to a report of a shooting, officers from the Baltimore Police Department's Western District arrived at the scene to find Hawks unresponsive with a life-threatening gunshot wound. The officers immediately began performing CPR in an effor ...
