In the early morning hours of September 21, 2024, a dispute in a Federal Hill alleyway escalated to gunfire, ending the life of 24-year-old Christian Leight. The fatal encounter unfolded around 1:45 a.m. in the 1100 block of Marshall Street, near Mugshots Bar. Surveillance footage from the area captured a fistfight between two individuals before a third person produced a gun and opened fire.
Christian, a male resident of Baltimore, Maryland, was struck by the gunfire.
He was rushed to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, but succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead later that day. An autopsy confirmed that the cause of death was homicide resulting from multiple gunshot wounds. In the wake of the shooting, a memorial of flowers and candles grew on the corner of Marshall and Cross streets as those who knew him gathered to mourn his sudden and violent death.
