In the summer of 2024, Brandon Tucker, a 43-year-old man from Baltimore, Maryland, was fatally shot. The incident occurred on the evening of July 14, when police responded to a report of a shooting on the 1700 block of North Carey Street around 10:40 p.m. Upon arrival, officers found Tucker with a gunshot wound to his head. He was transported to a local hospital in critical condition and succumbed to his injuries four days later, on July 18.
Brandon Tucker was a former employee of the
Safe Streets program, an organization dedicated to reducing violence in the community. He had worked as a violence interrupter at the Penn-North Safe Streets site from April until mid-May of the same year. The shooting that claimed his life took place just blocks from his former workplace, within the Penn-North Safe Streets zone.
The Baltimore Police Department's Western District Shooting detectives are handling the ongoing investigation into Tucker's death. As of late July 2024, authorities had not publicly identified any suspects or determined a motive for the shooting. The investigation remains open, and police have urged anyone with information to come forward.
