In the early evening of September 18, 2024, the life of 30-year-old Daryl Mitchell, a Black male, was tragically cut short on a street in Baltimore, Maryland. At approximately 6:33 p.m., in the 4100 block of Saint Georges Avenue, the sound of gunfire shattered the neighborhood's calm. When police and emergency responders arrived at the scene, they discovered Mitchell unresponsive, having sustained a life-threatening gunshot wound.
Despite the efforts of medics, he was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The investigation into the shooting was swiftly taken over by homicide detectives. Their work led to the identification of a suspect, and an arrest was subsequently made in connection with the fatal shooting. Forty-year-old Tavone Lewis was taken into custody by law enforcement. Authorities have not yet publicly disclosed a motive for the shooting or elaborated on the nature of any potential relationship between Mitchell and Lewis. The case is considered solved following the arrest of Lewis.
