On a Sunday afternoon in Baltimore, the sound of gunfire shattered the calm on Parkwood Avenue. It was around 12:40 p.m. on December 5, 2021, when officers on patrol in the Western District heard the shots and saw people fleeing the 2900 block of the street. When they arrived, they found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
The victim was identified as 26-year-old Ronald Barksdale, a male resident of Baltimore.
Medics rushed him to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center for treatment, but his injuries proved to be fatal, and he was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Homicide detectives from the Baltimore Police Department took charge of the investigation into Barksdale's death. To date, there have been no public announcements regarding any arrests made or suspects identified in connection with the shooting. The case remains under investigation, and authorities have encouraged anyone with information to come forward to assist in the inquiry.
