In St. Gabriel, Louisiana, on May 10, 2015, a violent altercation at a trailer on MLK Parkway ended the life of 30-year-old Rove Lodge. Lodge, a male resident of the area, was fatally shot during the incident, which also resulted in the death of 26-year-old Dominique Dunbar. The Iberville Parish Sheriff's Office responded to the scene and launched an investigation into the double homicide.
Investigators identified Kevin Ambeau, Jr., the son of the St.
Gabriel police chief at the time, as the individual who shot Lodge and Dunbar. The sheriff's office reported that the shooting occurred after a fight broke out. At the scene, deputies recovered two different sets of shell casings, suggesting a shootout between the parties involved. Despite the nature of the event, the sheriff stated that he believed Ambeau, Jr. acted in self-defense.
Following the investigation, the case was presented to a grand jury. The grand jury ultimately cleared Kevin Ambeau, Jr., and he did not face criminal charges in the deaths of Rove Lodge and Dominique Dunbar.
