A woman is found beaten to death behind an FOP lodge On May 11, 1996, the body of 18-year-old Victoria Rose Miller was discovered in Boynton Beach, Florida, behind the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge. A horseback rider found her remains in a brushy area shortly before noon. Victoria had been last seen at a party in Lake Worth, and she was reported missing by her mother shortly thereafter. The investigation revealed that she had been brutally beaten, and her throat had been slit.
It was determined that she was likely killed elsewhere and then left at the location where she was found.
Victoria had a turbulent adolescence, having run away from home at age 13 and begun working in topless bars by the age of 16. Despite her challenging years, she was loved by her family, and her tragic death left a deep impact on those close to her. Her sister, Alexis Miller, described the years following Victoria’s death as "extremely turbulent" and said that her sister's murder became a defining moment for the family.
The Boynton Beach Police Department has been actively trying to solve this cold case. In an effort to gather new leads, the police released a six-part podcast titled "Rosebud," which aims to raise public awareness and encourage anyone with information to come forward. The podcast, launched in 2020, details Victoria’s life and the events leading up to her death, in the hope that renewed attention might bring her killer to justice. The approach of using true-crime podcasts has proven to be an effective outreach method, generating several leads and even attracting input from retired law enforcement officers involved in the original investigation.
Victoria's family continues to hope for answers, and they are optimistic that these new efforts might finally bring closure to a painful chapter in their lives. The Boynton Beach Police are still asking anyone who might have information about the case to contact them, hoping that even after so many years, someone might have the key to solving Victoria's tragic murder.
