On June 25, 2023, 31-year-old Leroy D. Price was fatally shot near the intersection of North 13th Street and West Euclid Avenue in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The incident occurred around 2:25 a.m. outside a local bar, where a physical altercation escalated into gunfire. Price, a father of three, was caught in the crossfire and pronounced dead at the scene despite life-saving attempts.
Surveillance footage revealed that 30-year-old Ricardo Valdez was involved in the altercation.
During the fight, Valdez obtained a firearm from another individual and discharged it, resulting in Price's death. Valdez fled the scene in a light-colored Mercedes-Benz but was later apprehended by authorities.
Initially charged with first-degree reckless homicide, Valdez pleaded guilty to an amended charge of homicide by negligent handling of a dangerous weapon. In March 2024, he was sentenced to two years in prison, followed by two years of extended supervision.
Price's family and friends mourned his untimely death, remembering him as a hardworking man and a devoted father. A GoFundMe campaign was established to assist with funeral and memorial expenses, reflecting the community's support during this difficult time.
