On September 4, 2023, Cliffton C. Penn Jr., an 18-year-old from Milwaukee, was shot and killed in a driveway near the intersection of 58th and Fairmount Avenue. The shooting occurred around 5:11 p.m., and police received multiple reports of gunfire in the area. When officers arrived, they found Penn suffering from critical injuries; he was pronounced dead at the scene shortly thereafter.
