On a cold Saturday morning in Milwaukee, the life of 15-year-old Darren Hatchett, a Black / African American male, was tragically cut short. On January 20, 2024, Darren was found shot in an alley in the vicinity of 73rd and Mill streets. The discovery was made at approximately 8:20 a.m.
Emergency services were called to the scene, but upon their arrival, there was nothing that could be done for the teenager. Darren was pronounced dead at the location of the shooting.
The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office later officially identified him as the victim of the homicide.
The Milwaukee Police Department launched an investigation into the shooting death of the teenager. At the time of the initial reports, law enforcement had not identified any suspects and no arrests had been made. Police have appealed to the public for any information that might lead to the apprehension of the person or persons responsible for Darren Hatchett's death. The investigation into the circumstances and motive behind the shooting is ongoing.
