In the early hours of May 15, 2024, the life of 17-year-old Jermiah Jester was tragically cut short in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The young Black / African American male was discovered in the 2600 block of N 44th Street with a fatal gunshot wound. Despite efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident unfolded in a residential neighborhood, leaving the community shaken.
One neighbor recalled hearing gunshots and later opening his door to find police canvassing the area for information. The grim discovery of Jermiah's body was made in the corner of a yard, lying on a pile of branches. The proximity of the scene to Washington High School added another layer of concern for residents and students.
In the wake of this violence, Jermiah's family was left to grapple with an unimaginable loss. His mother, Stephanie Joseph, started a fundraising campaign to help cover the unexpected funeral and memorial expenses.
