On June 8, 2024, Joseph A. Watkins, a 35-year-old man from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, was shot and killed in a violent incident that unfolded near the intersection of 27th and State Streets. Witnesses reported hearing gunfire around 7:00 PM, and surveillance footage later revealed a confrontation between Watkins and another man shortly before the shooting occurred.
