On January 19, 2023, 59-year-old Jan Michael Agnew was fatally shot at his residence in Indianola, Oklahoma. His wife, 54-year-old Cynthia Agnew, contacted emergency services, stating she had shot her husband twice "in an effort to escape a domestic violence situation." Upon arrival, deputies found both individuals heavily intoxicated, with Jan unresponsive in the kitchen, suffering from two gunshot wounds. A 9mm handgun was recovered at the scene.
