On April 2, 2023, a tragic incident occurred in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, resulting in the death of 31-year-old Bennie Simmons Jr. The shooting took place in the early morning hours outside the Ice Event Center, near N.E. 36th and Kelly. Police were called to the scene around 2 a.m. in response to reports of a disturbance that led to gunfire.
