In the early morning hours of July 8, 2023, the life of 28-year-old Shawn Michael Miller, a White male, was tragically cut short in Woodward, Oklahoma. Authorities responding to a call found Miller deceased in a driveway, the victim of a fatal shooting. The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation was called in to assist the Woodward Police Department with the homicide investigation that quickly unfolded.
The investigation led authorities to a suspect, Tanner Aaron Welch.
According to court documents, the incident began with a confrontation at a local bar. Later that morning, Welch allegedly drove to a residence where Miller was located. An altercation ensued, during which Welch is accused of using an AR-15 rifle to shoot Miller multiple times.
Following the shooting, Tanner Aaron Welch was arrested and subsequently charged with first-degree murder. He was booked into the Woodward County Jail. The legal proceedings against Welch are ongoing as the case makes its way through the court system.
