Last seen on May 21, 2020, his family officially reported him missing to the Woodward Police Department on May 29. The search for Trent came to a grim conclusion on June 19, 2020, when his body was
discovered east of Woodward, near Highway 412. The Oklahoma State Medical Examiner's Office would later determine that his life had been taken by a gunshot wound, officially ruling his death a homicide. In September 2022, the OSBI announced a $9,000 reward for any information that would lead to the arrest and conviction of the individual or individuals responsible for his death, a plea to the public for help in resolving this violent crime.
