In the quiet moments before dusk on a Thursday, a young woman's life was tragically cut short in a place as ordinary as a convenience store parking lot. Elisabeth Anderson, a 23-year-old female, had arranged to meet her ex-boyfriend, 34-year-old Gavin Navitt, to return some of his belongings. The meeting took place on December 28, 2023, in the far west side of Oklahoma City, near Yukon, at a 7-Eleven on Reno and Czech Hall Road.
What was intended to be a simple exchange ended in a devastating act of violence.
While Elisabeth sat in her car, Navitt pulled out a pistol and shot her multiple times. The brutal attack shattered the late afternoon peace, and in the moments that followed, Navitt turned the gun on himself, ending his own life. Both Elisabeth and Navitt were transported to a local hospital, but their injuries were too severe, and both were pronounced dead. The Oklahoma City Police Department swiftly classified the tragic event as a murder-suicide.
In the wake of this senseless act, Elisabeth, affectionately known as 'Isie,' was remembered as a beacon of light by her grieving family. They described her as the cherished baby girl who completed their family, a devoted daughter, an amazing sister, and a dedicated friend. Her loved ones chose to focus on the beautiful, loving, and amazing person she was, rather than the violent circumstances of her death, stating they preferred not to give any extra thought to the man who had robbed them of their beloved 'Isie.' A celebration of her life was held where friends and family were encouraged to wear hoodies and jeans, her favorite outfit. Her father shared her passion for tattooing, a hobby she spent countless hours perfecting. The last piece she created was a testament to her faith, a simple yet profound statement: 'Gods Got Me.'
