On the first day of the new year, a heated argument shattered the sense of fresh beginnings at a residence on SW New York Avenue in Lawton, Oklahoma. Inside, 46-year-old Levell Newton, a Black/African American male, was with others when a man named Willie Lindley, aged 59, returned to the house in an agitated state. Lindley, who had been there earlier, was now armed and vehemently accused the people present of stealing his wallet and money.
